Transmission Lines Protection Based on the Current Eigenvalues Differential Concept
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work presents a new approach for a current differential protection of the transmission lines. The proposed approach is based on the Clarke-Concordia transformation and principal component analysis. First the acquired current signals are transformed into “αβo” components by applying the ClarkeConcordia transformation. This allows obtaining typical patterns. To identify these patterns a principal component analysis is performed. Several tests under different fault conditions were performed. The obtained results allow verifying the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Power Differential based Wide Area Protection
Current differential based wide area protection (WAP) has recently been proposed as a technique to increase the reliability of protection systems. It increases system stability and can prevent large contingencies such as cascading outages and blackouts. This paper describes how power differential protection (PDP) can be used within a WAP and shows that the algorithm operates correctly for a...
متن کاملOnline Voltage Stability Monitoring and Prediction by Using Support Vector Machine Considering Overcurrent Protection for Transmission Lines
In this paper, a novel method is proposed to monitor the power system voltage stability using Support Vector Machine (SVM) by implementing real-time data received from the Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS). In this study, the effects of the protection schemes on the voltage magnitude of the buses are considered while they have not been investigated in previous researches. Considering overcurr...
متن کاملA Novel Fault Detection and Classification Approach in Transmission Lines Based on Statistical Patterns
Symmetrical nature of mean of electrical signals during normal operating conditions is used in the fault detection task for dependable, robust, and simple fault detector implementation is presented in this work. Every fourth cycle of the instantaneous current signal, the mean is computed and carried into the next cycle to discover nonlinearities in the signal. A fault detection task is complete...
متن کاملSpice Compatible Model for Multiple Coupled Nonuniform Transmission Lines Application in Transient Analysis of VLSI Circuits
An SPICE compatible model for multiple coupled nonuniform lossless transmission lines (TL's) is presented. The method of the modeling is based on the steplines approximation of the nonuniform TLs and quasi-TEM assumptions. Using steplines approximation the system of coupled nonuniform TLs is subdivided into arbitrary large number of coupled uniform lines (steplines) with different characteristi...

This paper presents the effects of instrument transformers connection points on the measured impedance by distance relays in the presence of Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices with series connected branch. Distance relay tripping characteristic itself depends on the power system structural conditions, pre-fault operational conditions, and especially the ground ...
